The Obama administration has formally notified Congress of an arms deal with Saudi Arabia worth up to $60 billion that includes advanced fighter jets, helicopters, missiles, and other weaponry and equipment.

The assistant secretary of state for political and military affairs, Andrew Shapiro, said that the deal proposed the sale of 84 F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia and upgraded older 70 F-15s previously purchased by the Saudi government.

The helicopters included in the deal are 70 Apaches, 72 Black Hawks, and 36 Little Birds.

Also in the package are an assortment of advanced missiles, bombs, radar, and other equipment.

The deal, which will be implemented over 15 to 20 years, is the largest U.S. arms deal ever.
