Iraqi officials say a suicide bomber outside of Baghdad has killed at least nine people, including civilians and members of the country’s security forces.
Police say the attacker on October 17 drove an explosives-laden car into an army checkpoint in the town Yussifiyah, about 20 kilometers south of Baghdad.
The blast also left at least 17 people wounded.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which came hours after Iraq's government announced the start of a military offensive aimed at retaking the northern city of Mosul from Islamic State militants..
