Japan Carries Out First Executions Since 2010

Justice Minister Toshio Ogawa said Japan has carried out three executions.

The three, all death row inmates convicted of multiple murders, were reportedly hanged in different prisons.

Ogawa said the punishment is supported by the public.

He did not provide the names of those executed.

Ogawa did say there were still 132 people on death row in Japan.

The last executions in Japan were carried out in July 2010.
