Deadly Attacks Reported Across Iraq

Iraqi officials say a number of bombings have killed more than 20 people across the country.

In Baghdad, security officials said a series of car bombs struck several Shi’ite-majority areas on May 15, killing at least 14 people and wounding several others.

Two car bombs also went off in the northern city of Kirkuk, killing at least 10 people.

The city is the capital of Kirkuk province, home to a mix of Arabs, Kurds, and Turkomen who are all pushing for control of the oil-rich area.

Near the northern city of Mosul, a roadside bomb killed a police officer and wounded two others.

In Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed at least one police officer.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, but similar incidents in the past have been blamed on Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
