China Urges All Sides To Ease Tensions Over Iran

TEXT SIZE - +
BEIJING (Reuters) -- China's Foreign Ministry has urged all sides to try to ease mounting tensions over Iran's nuclear plans, as the United States and Western European powers seek greater force behind demands that Tehran come clean.

"We believe that all sides should take more steps to ease tensions and resolve problems, and not the opposite," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a regular news breifing in Beijing.

"We support protecting the international nuclear nonproliferation regime and also advocate appropriately resolving the Iran nuclear issue through negotiations.
