BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz Prime Minister has sacked the leadership of the State Drug Control Service for their "inefficient performance."

Kyrgyz Cabinet’s press service said on July 19 that the service’s chief Vitaly Orozaliev and his deputies Daniyar Otorbaev and Damir Sagynbaev were dismissed.

Earlier this week, the Kyrgyz Defense Council Secretariat checked the work of the service and recommended that all the agency's senior officials be removed from office.

The check was carried out in accordance with an instruction by Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev.

Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian states are used by illegal drug traffickers as a transit for narcotics from Afghanistan to Russia and onwards to Europe.
