Fourteen Pakistani Soldiers Reported Killed In Attack

Pakistani intelligence officials say 14 Pakistani soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb struck an army convoy in the country's restive northwest.

The bomb hit three army vehicles in the Dosalli village of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan, one of Pakistan's seven tribal agencies.

Pakistani officials said two vehicles were destroyed and a third damaged.

Twenty others were injured in the blast on January 13.

Pakistan's military has confirmed the explosion, but said only four soldiers were killed and 11 wounded.

No one took responsibility for the attack.

Al-Qaeda-linked Taliban militants have been held responsible for similar attacks in Pakistan's insurgency-hit tribal areas.

North Waziristan is a breeding ground for extremists fighting both the Pakistani government and foreign forces over the border in Afghanistan.
