26 September 2004 -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair acknowledged today that some of Britain's intelligence on Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's illicit weapons program was wrong.
But he defended the U.S.-led war in Iraq in an interview with the BBC as delegates gathered in Brighton for his ruling Labour Party's annual conference.
Blair will use the five-day convention to launch policies ahead of national elections expected next year.
However, the kidnapping of Briton Kenneth Bigley by Islamic militants in Iraq, ongoing violence in that country, and persistent questions about the quality of British intelligence used to justify the war continue to plague Blair.
