Blasts Hit Baghdad's Green Zone

14 October 2004 -- Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone has been hit by two explosions today. News agencies are reporting casualties, but nothing has been confirmed.
It's not immediately clear what caused the blasts inside the compound, which houses key U.S. and Iraqi government offices.

The Green Zone is a regular target of insurgents, who have frequently fired mortar rounds at the compound. There have also been a number of deadly car bombings at its gates.
