16 October 2004 -- The U.S. military said today a suicide car bomber killed three U.S. troops and an Iraqi civilian in an attack near Iraq's border with Syria.
The military said the attack took place last night in the town of Qaim some 300 kilometers west of Baghdad.
Meanwhile, an Al-Fallujah delegation offered today to resume peace talks with the interim Iraqi government if the U.S. Army ceases attacks against the city and releases the chief negotiator.
Delegation member Khalid Fakhri al-Jumayli told reporters the talks were suspended because local officials felt that the interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi was meeting the demands of the Americans.
The talks broke down on 14 October over the government's demands that the city hand over Jordanian-born militant Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi, whom the AL-Fallujah leadership maintains is not in the city.
