U.S. Strikes Reportedly Kill Six Iraqis In Al-Fallujah

20 October 2004 -- The U.S. military said today's air raids destroyed two safe houses belonging to followers of militant leader Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi in northern Al-Fallujah.
According to witnesses, a couple and its four children were killed in another attack when U.S. jets bombed their home in Al-Fallujah's central Wahda area.

A police officer, Mohsen Adnan, said that just minutes later, a U.S. war plane fired a rocket that hit a teachers' college in the Jumhuriya area but it did not detonate.

Also today, the aid group CARE International announced that it has suspended its operations in Iraq because of the kidnapping of the head of its Baghdad office.

A high-ranking CARE official said that none of the organization's staff are now working in Iraq following Margaret Hassan's kidnapping in Baghdad yesterday.
