Three UN Workers Kidnapped In Kabul

28 October 2004 -- Armed men kidnapped three foreign election workers in central Kabul today.
Interior ministry spokesman Lutfullah Mashal confirmed that the three seized persons were working for the election commission. He gave no additional details, but it is believed that women are among the three.

The nationalities of the kidnapped workers are not immediately clear. News agencies quote UN and Afghan officials as saying privately that the kidnappers, wearing military uniforms, stopped a car carrying the election officials and forced them into their own vehicle.
