The Ansar Al-Sunnah Army said on its website that it beheaded one and shot 10 others after capturing them on the highway between Baghdad and Al-Hillah. The website had a video link showing the soldiers reading their own names and then showed them being executed.

The group said in a statement that it was avenging the deaths of Iraqis in Al-Fallujah, Al-Samarra, Al-Ramadi, and elsewhere.

Another group in Iraq today said it has kidnapped a Polish woman in Iraq and demanded Poland withdraw its forces. The Polish government said the abducted woman is Polish with an Iraqi husband.
