Huge Stocks Of Weapons Found In Al-Fallujah

24 November 2004 -- A U.S. Marine officer says American-led troops have found huge amounts of weapons in Iraq's western city of Al-Fallujah since they launched an offensive against insurgents more than two weeks ago.
Lieutenant Colonel Dan Wilson told reporters today that the troops were surprised by the number of weapons discovered in the city.

In the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the deputy governor said he survived an assassination attempt today that killed one of his bodyguards and wounded two, including his brother.

Tensions have been running high in Mosul since insurgents attacked police stations and government buildings two weeks ago. That forced U.S. commanders to dispatch reinforcements to Mosul to help police there.
