Blast Targets Iraqi Premier's Office

Hospital officials say at least two people were killed, and some 20 others were injured by the explosion.

Police say the blast occurred at a checkpoint at the entrance to the road leading to the building. Police say Allawi was not in the area and the headquarters were not damaged by the explosion.

Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell reiterated that elections planned for 30 January will not be delayed despite continuing violence in Iraq.

Powell spoke shortly after 23 members of Iraq's National Guard were killed in a suicide car bomb attack outside a U.S. military base near the town of Balad, north of Baghdad.
