Kazakh Diplomat Dies After Shooting

21 January 2005 -- A Kazakh diplomat who was shot in the head at his home in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on 19 January has died.
The Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service said Sapargali Aubakirov died of his wounds in a hospital today.

Aubakirov was a counsellor at the Kazakh Embassy responsible for monitoring foreign and domestic policies, including religious issues.

Pakistani police are questioning several people to determine whether Aubakirov had argued with a group of friends who were reportedly at his home the night he was shot.

Police are also trying to find Aubakirov's missing car.
