25 January 2005 -- Four Britons freed from the U.S. military camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, were flown to a British military base outside London today.
The four men are the last of the British detainees at Guantanamo. They were among some 550 prisoners from 42 countries swept up in the U.S.-led war on terror.
U.S. authorities say the Guantanamo detainees -- who have been held without charge for up to three years -- are suspected of having links to Al-Qaeda or Afghanistan's ousted Taliban.
British police arrested the four men under the country's terrorism act and took them to a high-security police station in London for questioning. Five other British men who were released from Guantanamo last March were questioned only briefly before being allowed to go free.
