9 February 2005 -- Iranian President Hojatoleslam Mohammad Khatami says there is no way Iran would ever drop its nuclear program.
IRNA news agency reports Khatami made this comment in a meeting today with foreign diplomats in Tehran.
He said no government has the right to deprive the nation on what he called its path to technology.
Khatami warned that if the demand of Iran for getting access to peaceful nuclear technology is not met by the European Union, then Iran will be no longer obliged to continue nuclear talks with them.
Iran is negotiating with Britain, Germany, and France, which are trying to persuade Iran to give up the nuclear fuel cycle.
The United States says it believes Iran is secretly trying to make a bomb under the guise of a peaceful nuclear program -- something which the Iranians deny.
