Georgia Reassures Russia It Will Not Host NATO Bases

17 March 2005 -- Georgian Minister of State for Conflict Resolution Giorgi Khaindrava today reassured Russia that Georgia won't host NATO troops on its territory after Russia withdraws it troops from the last two Russian bases in the country.
Khaindrava made his remarks today during a visit to Moscow. He also said that Tbilisi is hopeful about soon reaching an agreement with Moscow on the withdrawal of the bases.

Russian and Georgian officials are scheduled to meet next week to discuss a timetable for Russian troop withdrawals from the two Soviet-era military bases in Georgia.
