President-Elect's Deputy Appointed New Tehran Mayor

26 June 2005 -- Iranian state media says that city council of the Iranian capital Tehran today appointed President-elect Mahmud Ahmadinejad's deputy to succeed him as mayor.
Tehran's new mayor, Ali Saidloo, served as deputy mayor under Ahmadinejad, who carried out a sweeping reshuffling of Tehran city administration after his own appointment two years ago.

Little is known about Saidloo except that he is believed to be an ultraconservative like his former boss and Iran's new president.
