British Police Unlink Recent Charges, Bombings

Police have raided a number of homes in Leeds in connection with the 7 July bombings 18 July 2005 -- British police announced that they have arrested six men in northern England under immigration laws -- not under antiterrorism laws, as they had previously announced.
Police said that at this stage the arrests are not directly linked to the 7 July London bombings that killed 55 and injured more than 700.

A police spokesman said the arrests were made yesterday in a suburb of the West Yorkshire town of Leeds, where two of the London bomber suspects lived. No more details of those arrested were released.

Early this morning, a police spokesman said previous reports that the six had been arrested under antiterrorism laws was due to an error in the original press release.
