27 July 2005 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S. military says a roadside bomb killed four U.S. soldiers in Baghdad.
A statement late on 26 July by the U.S. command said the soldiers died on 24 July night when their vehicle ran over a roadside bomb in the southwest of the city. The statement gave no further details.
Earlier on 26 July, there were reports that armed men opened fire on a bus carrying employees home from a factory in Abu Ghurayb, west of Baghdad, killing at least 16 people. The reports say the buses were taking home employees from the Al-Faris water works, some 30 kilometers west of Baghdad.
In another development, an Iraqi group linked with Al-Qaeda has released a video on a website of two Algerian diplomats kidnapped in Baghdad last week. The group -- led by Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi -- called the men envoys of an "infidel" government and said it will execute them.
