2 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- France's prime minister today said that Iran should face the UN Security Council if it resumes its suspended nuclear activities.
Dominique de Villepin said Iran must honor its commitments, which are to suspend all activities concerning the processing of uranium.
Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy today said that Iran could spark an international crisis if it
resumes its suspended nuclear activities.
Tehran says it will resume some nuclear work after a nine-month suspension, as a deadline for the European Union to deliver a package of trade and security incentives expired. But the EU says negotiators are just days away from submitting the proposal.
The deputy chief of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Saeedi, today told Iranian state-run television that Tehran will resume converting uranium ore to gas at its Isfahan nuclear plant within two days.
