17 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Moscow says it opposes the use of force to stop Iran's nuclear program, saying it could have "grave and hardly predictable" consequences.
The statement was made by the Russian Foreign Ministry after U.S. President George W. Bush indicated that military force is an option to press Tehran to abandon its nuclear program.
Iran had angered the United States and the European Union by resuming uranium conversion at the Isfahan plant earlier this month.
