Iranian Boy Takes Australia To Court

29 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A 10-year-old Iranian boy is taking the Australian government to court today.
Shayan Bedrai says the time he spent in refugee camps in Australia caused mental-health problems and he is demanding compensation in the first case of its kind in Australia.

The Bedrai family arrived among a boatload of illegal immigrants in early 2000, when Shayan was five.

His lawyers say this case could be the first of many.
