3 September 2005 -- Afghan doctors said today that two bodies, of a man and a woman, found in southern Afghanistan are those of two Japanese tourists who went missing along the Afghan-Pakistani border last month.
Eahsanullah Halemi, head of the hospital where the bodies were examined, said the doctors have determined their
identities. He said the two were shot dead.
The bodies were found in the desert near the main road between the southern city of Kandahar and the capital, Kabul.
They were sent to Kabul yesterday to be examined.
The two teachers, technical arts teacher Jun Fukusho and English teacher Shinobu Hasegawa, from Hiroshima in
western Japan went missing in early August.
