Two U.S. Troops Injured In Afghan Blast

13 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Two U.S. soldiers were injured in a bomb blast in southern Afghanistan today.
The U.S. military says their vehicle hit an explosive device in the city of Kandahar.

Agence France Presse quotes an unnamed Afghan police official near the blast site as saying a separate explosion wounded two Afghans some 100 meters from the site of the first explosion.

The blast in the southern city of Kandahar, the birthplace of the ousted Taliban regime, comes as Afghans prepare for the country's first parliamentary elections in over 30 years, to be held on 18 September.
