14 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A Bosnian Serb indicted for crimes against humanity during the 1992-95 Bosnia war has surrendered to face charges at the UN war crimes tribunal.
Serbia and Montenegro's human rights minister, Rasim Ljajic, late yesterday said Sredoje Lukic has surrendered to Bosnian Serb authorities as a result of close cooperation between Bosnian Serb and Serbian authorities.
Lukic, a former policeman, had been in hiding since the late 1990s. There were no details available as to where he was held or when he might leave Bosnia for the court in The Hague.
According to the indictment by the tribunal, Lukic was a member of a paramilitary group led by his cousin Milan Lukic, a war crimes suspect arrested last month in Argentina.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia says the group was responsible for the killings of at least 100 Bosnian Muslims around the town of Visegrad.
