21 September 2005 -- Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev held talks today in Bishkek with visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov.
Bakiev said Russia will continue to be Kyrgyzstan's key strategic partner in the military-technical, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. And he pledged that all previous bilateral agreements will be fulfilled.
Ivanov said Russia is determined to develop relations with Kyrgyzstan on a bilateral level, as well as through the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
He said Russia intends to invest heavily in Kyrgyzstan.
Ivanov also announced plans to hold joint antiterrorist military exercises with Kyrgyzstan next year.
Ivanov is due to travel to Tashkent later today for talks with Uzbek officials.
