29 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- The editors of five independent newspapers in Kazakhstan have reached a deal with a new publishing house to get the papers printed again after the previous printer refused to publish them.
Gulzhan Ergalieva, the editor of "Svoboda slova," one of the five newspapers not being published, said the Almaty-based Daur publishing house had offered an acceptable deal to print the newspapers.
Daur is run by Svetlana Nazarbaeva, a relation by marriage of President Nursultan Nazarbaev.
On 26 September, the Vremya-Print printing press said it would no longer publish the newspapers.
The editors of the five newspaper have ended a hunger strike that began after the Vremya-Print decision.
