30 September 2005 -- Montenegro has assured the chief UN war crimes prosecutor that it will arrest top war crime fugitives if they are discovered in the Balkan republic.
Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic made the pledge today to prosecutor Carla Del Ponte of the UN tribunal at The Hague.
The two held talks in the Montenegrin resort of Sveti Stefan, amid reports that a top fugitive -- Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic -- occasionally crosses into his native Montenegro from neighboring Bosnia and Serbia.
Karadzic was indicted by the UN tribunal at The Hague for allegedly orchestrating the 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslim boys and men from Srebrenica and for laying siege to the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo.
