Roadside Bomb Blast Injures One In Kandahar

5 October 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A roadside bomb exploded today near a convoy of Canadian troops on the outskirts of the southern Afghan city of Kandahar. No Canadian soldiers were hurt, but reports said one Afghan civilian nearby was injured.
A spokeswoman for U.S.-led coalition forces in Kabul said it appeared the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device.

Canadian troops immediately blocked the road outside their base in Kandahar where the explosion occurred.
