Bomb Blast Hits Shi'ite Mosque In Iraqi Town

5 October 2005 -- Iraqi police and hospital officials say at least 25 people were killed and at least 77 wounded when a bomb exploded in the central town of Hilla today.
The blast occurred near the Ibn al-Nama Mosque, where Iraqi Shi'ites were gathered at prayer in the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

Police are trying to determine whether the blast was caused by a car packed with explosives or by a bomb left at the scene.

Today's attack came five days after a car bomb exploded in a crowded Hilla market, killing 10 people.
