Nine Iraqi Police Killed In Attacks

(RFE/RL) 15 November 2005 -- Security officials in Iraq says nine police officers were killed and nine wounded in separate attacks today in the northern city of Kirkuk and in Baghdad.

Police official Colonel Burhan Habib said three officers died and three were hurt when a roadside bomb exploded in the oil-producing city of Kirkuk.


A second police official, Colonel Adel Ibrahim, said that earlier today, four officers were killed when their patrol car was ambushed by gunmen just east of the town.


And two other officers were killed and six wounded when a car bomb exploded near a restaurant popular with security forces in eastern Baghdad, according to an Interior m=Ministry official in the capital.


A civilian passerby was also hurt in that blast.
