Iraq Attacks Kill At Least 19

U.S. troops survey the aftermath of a suicide bombing in Mosul today that killed five people (epa) 20 February 2006 -- At least 19 people were killed in Iraq this morning in three separate attacks.

Police say explosions caused by a bomb left in a bag near laborers waiting for day work in the capital Baghdad killed at least nine workers.


North of Baghdad, five Iraqis were killed when their truck convoy came under rocket and automatic-weapons fire.


In the northwestern city of Mosul, a militant with explosives concealed under his clothing blew himself up in a restaurant, killing at least five people.


In another development, two Macedonian contractors kidnapped near the southern Iraqi city of Al-Basrah have been released. Officials say they are unaware if any ransom had been paid for the two men.


A Macedonian Foreign Ministry official had said the two, who were kidnapped on 16 February, were being held for ransom.
