1 March 2006 -- Three bombs exploded in separate parts of Baghdad today, killing some 17 people and injuring nearly 50 more.
In the first attack, a bomb detonated under a car as a police patrol was passing by. The blast killed three civilians and wounded 15.
The second was a car bomb. It exploded in a mostly Shi'ite area of the capital, killing 14 and wounding 33.
The third attack was also a car bomb. It reportedly caused no casualties.
Sectarian violence in Iraq has increased since a bomb destroyed a major Shi'ite shrine in Samarra last week.
