Afghan President To Attend Terrorism Conference

Afghan President Hamid Karzai (file photo) (epa) March 22, 2006 -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai is set to attend a conference in Ankara, Turkey on world antiterrorism cooperation.

In a speech to the symposium tomorrow, Karzai is expected to focus on way to defeat the global terrorist threat and his country's experiences in fighting terrorism.


Karzai will be accompanied by his foreign affairs adviser, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, who the president proposed for the post of foreign minister in a new cabinet. Chief of Army Staff General Rashid Dostum is also part of the Afghan delegation.


Karzai paid a state visit to Turkey last January.
