Jailed War Crimes Indictee Fathers 'Love Child'

Nebojsa Pavkovic was allowed conjugal visits with his girlfriend while in detention (file photo) (CTK) March 23, 2006 -- A love date at the detention center of the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague has produced a daughter for a former Yugoslav general.
Nebojsa Pavkovic is charged with war crimes against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo in 1998-99. He is currently on temporary release pending his trial.

Serbian media said the baby was conceived last June in a "love room" for conjugal visits at the tribunal's detention center, when the 58-year-old Pavkovic received a visit from his 26-year-old partner, Maya. It was Pavkovic's fifth child and his first with Maya.

A tribunal spokeswoman in The Hague said the court did not comment on the private lives of detainees.

The spokeswoman would not say whether any other child has ever been conceived at Scheveningen prison.
