Joint Exercise Planned For Afghan, Pakistani, U.S. Troops

Pakistani troops patrol a town in the troubled tribal region of North Waziristan (file photo) (epa) April 24, 2006 -- The U.S. military today announced plans for Afghan, Pakistani, and U.S. troops to conduct a joint military exercise in the volatile Afghanistan-Pakistan border region.

U.S. military spokesman Col. Laurent Fox said the operation will be an "air assault exercise," but did not specify when it will take place.
