Russia Says World Ready To Offer Iran Guarantees

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov (file photo) (epa) May 29, 2006 -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said the world's major powers are ready to guarantee Iran's right to develop nuclear energy if Tehran cooperates fully with the UN's nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Lavrov made the remarks after meeting in Moscow with the president of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
