U.S. Extends Tours For Troops In Iraq

U.S. Marines on patrol in Iraq (AFP) July 27, 2006 -- U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has extended the tours of nearly 4,000 US troops in Iraq for 120 days to help quell sectarian violence in Baghdad.

The Pentagon also identified four other brigades for deployment to Iraq late this year and in 2007, enough to maintain the U.S. force at about 130,000 troops for a year.
