Drug Traffickers Kill Eight In Clashes In Iran

A poster in Iran's campaign against drugs (Fars) August 13, 2006 -- State-run television in Tehran reports that drug traffickers have killed at least eight members of the Iranian security forces and injured two others in armed clashes in the southeast of the country.

The broadcast said the clashes took place late on August 12 but provided few other details.


The report said it was not yet clear whether any of the drug traffickers were killed in the exchange of fire.
