August 27, 2006 -- Britain's Defense Ministry says one of its soldiers was killed during an attack in Helmand Province today
NATO said another soldier from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and six Afghan troops were wounded in a mortar attack on their base in Kandahar Province.
More than 80 foreign soldiers have died in Afghanistan this year.
In other violence, Helmand Province's police chief, Ghulam Nabi Malakheil, said police killed 10 suspected Taliban militants who attacked a government compound in the Musa Qala district on August 26. There were no reported police casualties.
