Russian-U.S Military Exercises Reportedly Canceled

A Russian tank at an arms exhibition in Nizhny Tagil (ITAR-TASS) September 5, 2006 -- Russia has reportedly canceled joint military exercises with U.S. forces set for later this month.

Russia's Interfax news agency said the exercises were canceled because of unspecified "questions" over the status of U.S. personnel.

Russian Defense Ministry officials said they could not confirm the report.

The "Torgau-2006" drill was to be held in the central region of Nizhny Novgorod.
