Nazarbaev (file photo) (epa) 15 September 2006 -- President Nursultan Nazarbaev today inaugurated Kazakhstan's largest information-technology park near the former capital of Almaty.
The park is located on the premises of the special economic zone that was created in the village of Alatau in 2003.

Its designers say they hope the Alatau IT City information technology park will attract world high-tech businesses to Kazakhstan and become an "intellectual center" for the entire Central Asian region.

Nazarbaev said 11 among the world's leading IT and communication companies have already been short-listed to set up offices in Alatau.

He said all candidates had expressed their readiness to train Kazakh experts.
