Iran Takes U.S. Bank Ban To IMF

(RFE/RL) September 25, 2006 -- Iran says it has lodged a complaint with the International Monetary Fund after the United States blacklisted one of its state-run banks.

State television quotes the head of the central bank, Ebrahim Sheibani, as saying the sanction was a "political decision that has no justification."

Earlier this month, Washington banned U.S. banks from dealing with Bank Saderat Iran, saying it channels funds to Hizballah in Lebanon.
