December 21, 2006 -- The Russian Defense Ministry says the country today successfully test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile.
The RS-20V Voevoda, which NATO identifies as the SS-18 Satan, was fired from its silo in the Orenburg region of the southern Ural Mountains.
Officials said it hit a target on a testing ground on the Kamchatka Peninsula, more than 6,000 kilometers away in Russia's Far East.
