Moscow, April 4 (RFE/RL) -- CIS security chiefs are meeting in Dushanbe today to discuss the problems of organised crime and drugs proliferation. The meeting is being chaired by Russian Security Service Head, General Mikhail Barsukhov.

The meeting will also focus on the illegal arms trade in the CIS, terrorism and security problems on the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The topic of further integration between CIS members will also be addressed.

Today's meeting follows the signing of two agreements on closer cooperation between CIS countries. The first was signed last month by Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrghyzstan. This month Russia and Belarus signed a union treaty. Both agreements provide for closer cooperation in security matters.
