Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Plant Starts Operating

The Bushehr plant has been beset with delays

Iran says its first nuclear power plant in the southern port city of Bushehr has started operations.

The Fars news agency quotes the nation's atomic chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, as saying on November 27 that "we sealed the cover of the reactor and all the fuel rods are in the core of the reactor."

He said officials hope that electricity produced at the Bushehr plant will be connected to the national power grid in a month or two.
