A former Croatian prime minister under investigation in a corruption case has left the country hours before parliament was to vote on lifting his immunity from prosecution so that he can be detained.
On December 9, Police spokesman Krunoslav Borovec said Ivo Sanader left Croatia at midday, crossing into Slovenia.
It is not known what corruption charges he faces.
Sanader led the government and ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) from 2003 until he quit in a surprise announcement in 2009.
